Before the presidential election last year, Miss Carey’s fifth and sixth learned how a president in Ireland is elected. They learned about previous Irish presidents and even created some catchy mnemonics to learn our past presidents. They gathered into small groups and researched each of our previous presidents thoroughly and then presented them in class. They then created their very own presidential campaign speech, encouraging others to ‘vote’ for them. Who knows, maybe one day one of them may reuse their spectacular speeches.
